Over threethousand teachers are employed ineducating the Indian for citizen-ship, and Miss Reel has entire super-intendence of the work. Of interesting personality, tall, well-proportioned, and with a countenancethat lights up with enthusiasm as shetalks of her work, it is interesting tolearn from this energetic womansown lips the story of her travels byland and water to reach the variousagencies. Some of these sound likefairy tales, for most of her time isspent in the field; and, as Congress hasa penchant for appropriating fundsfor the erection of schools in almost inacessible places, her journeys arearduous in the extre. © Reading Room 2020
