Images show the tigers cuddling up for a cat nap, a cheetah in an abnormally slow mood, an illusive black jaguar on the prowl and even the king of the jungle enjoying golden hour on his massive mane. These images were captured by photographer Gary Cox (53) from Manchester England. Gary captures the fearsome felines on his Canon 80D, Sigma 150-600mm lens. ?It is just a matter of patience and timing. Always having your camera trained and focused, ready for the next shot, ? said Gary. ?The winter sun assisted in getting some good images and the cats looked like they were posing just for me. They are always fascinating to watch. ?The lions are fairly typical but the trick is waiting for the correct pose and look from the cats. Iblis was working with me that day, he is a great looking lion. ?The jaguar Inka is a new addition to the zoo. She is tricky as she disappears for long periods of time and then doesn?t stay still. The black also makes it difficult to get a clear shot. ?The Sumatran tiger cubs Alif and Raya are very hit and miss and it is pot luck whether you get a glimpse of them at all. ?I was thrilled to see mum Kasarna and 10-month-old cubs all together on their rock near the end of my visit, making it so worthwhile. ?I am always fascinated and awe-inspired by all big cats. They just have a power and a presence all of their own that most animals do not possess. ?I love all the photos of the tiger cubs with their mum, particularly the more playful ones. But for photography purposes I love the cheetah portrait, which really captures its beauty. ?I think that awareness and conservation is something that is getting increasingly important and zoos are trying their best to engage people more than they ever have done before. © Media Drum World, Media Drum World
