This is a colorized vintage photo of General Robert E. Lee. It is blended with a contemporary photo that shows Lee's apartment in Richmond, Virginia Robert E. Lee, Library of Congress; At the surrender ceremony of Lee's Army of Northern Virginia there was no time for a formal photograph. Within several days of that surrender, Robert E. Lee, including one of his sons and Colonel Taylor, his aide, sat for a photograph in front of the basement access to his apartment in Richmond, Virginia. This new photograph supplements the historic black and white image taken in 1865 by carefully removing Lee's son and Lee's aide from the image and colorizing Robert E. Lee to show in more detail what Lee may have looked like today. But more important, the viewer can see Lee's strength of character and personality, his keen-edged yet suspicious eye, his impeccable dress, and his passive, almost relaxed acceptance of the surrender a few days before. This photograph will give the viewer a new perspective of an existing, historic image. The image of the door in the back ground is a modern photograph of the same door that can be seen in the historic photograph at the Library of Congress. This image makes it look like Robert E. Lee just sat down yesterday to have his photo taken. A perfect gift for history buffs that study the American civil war and for those who know the importance of remembering history. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
